Ken Ross has been directing and producing film and video for more than 25 years. Based in New York City, Ross, along with his production company, Cyclone Pictures, Inc., counts numerous documentaries, commercials, long format programs, DVD's, music videos and experimental films among his credits.

A pioneer in music video production since 1984, Ken has directed over 60 music videos for various artists, including The Smiths, 'Til Tuesday, Chicago, Roseanne Cash, Suzanne Vega, Club Nouveau, Patti Smith, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Steve Perry.

In 1987, Ross directed the groundbreaking TV commercial for Nike ("Kid's Revolution"), featuring the Beatles song "Revolution". Since then he has directed over 100 commercials, including a campaign for Sprite, featuring street performers in ten American cities, the "real people" campaigns for Bud Light shot all across the U.S., as well as spots for Outback, Barnes and Noble and Coca-Cola.

Ken has shot promos for VH-1, Lifetime Network, HGTV, and for Bravo Network's, Project Runway. He was a cinematographer on Nickellenium, a special millennium project for Nickelodeon Network, and directed a segment for the ABC prime-time special, Sex in America with Cindy Crawford: Teens and Sex. He was also contributing cinematographer for the HBO film, Dragtime, a program in the "America Undercover" series.

Ken's most recent accomplishments merge his life-long interest in the healing arts with filmmaking. A unique and innovative ten-DVD series, Mayo Clinic Wellness Solutions, offers integrative health solutions for the top ten chronic medical conditions in America. In addition, a three-DVD series, Ayurvedic Medicine with Dr. John Douillard, explores the ancient science of Ayurveda as it applies to Stress Relief, Weight Loss, and Detox. Ken was executive producer, creative director and director on both series for the wellness company, Gaiam.

He has also worked with noted author and teacher Eckhart Tolle, filming two of his retreats for international DVD distribution.

To advance his interest in socially responsible filmmaking, Ross co-founded Films for Non-Profits to help charitable and benevolent organizations get their stories seen, heard and remembered. Projects include films for Habitat for Humanity, Amfar, Girls, Inc. and the Association to Benefit Children.

Ken's feature-length musical documentary, 1913 Massacre, co-directed with Louis Galdieri, is in the final stages of editing. Inspired by a Woody Guthrie song, it tells the story of an American town's struggle with its treacherous past. This project is supported by the Jerome Foundation, the NY State Council on the Arts and the Illinois Humanities Council.

He is currently in development on a documentary film, Your Heart and Mine, with writer Louise Temple. The film explores the dimensions of the human heart and how the discoveries of modern science are revolutionizing our understanding of emotional intelligence and the mind-body-spirit connection.

Ross also wrote (with Duba Leibell) the feature film script, Johnny Girl, which won an IFP "Excellence in Screenwriting" Award.

His experimental films Blessed in Exile and Crisis in Utopia have won numerous awards (e.g. - Ann Arbor Film Festival, Thomas Edison Black Maria Film Festival, CAPS Fellowship) and have been shown extensively in museums, film showcases and colleges around the country (e.g.- Whitney Museum, "The American Century: Art & Culture 1900-2000", Museum of Modern Art, PS.1 and the American Museum of the Moving Image).

He was co-founder of the Collective for Living Cinema, Inc., a not-for-profit film art center in N.Y., dedicated to the screening of personal, independent films from all periods and all cultures.

Ken has taught film production and aesthetics at Bard College, Vassar College and SUNY Purchase. A student of Ken Jacobs and Larry Gottheim at Harpur College (SUNY Binghamton), he also studied with Nicholas Ray and worked on Ray's last film, "We Can't Go Home Again" which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

A graduate of the IM School of Healing Arts in New York, where he also taught for many years, Ken is a founder and facilitator of a bi-monthly men's healing group.
